northern lights

hmm. is it possible to see the aurora borealis from vermont?
and what time(s) of year does it happen anyway?
does anyone know?

I've seen it from Massachusetts. You can definitely see it from Maine and points north for most of the year (depending on solar activity).

In MA, I've only seen it in November (during an awesome meteor shower and in negative 10 degree weather, but that's another story), but during solar flares I think all bets are off and you can pretty much see it anywhere.
